Can Pro Series 15k Slider Hitch be Used with Sidewinder Pin Box

Updated 06/25/2019 | Published 06/24/2019

Question:

I have a 11 Ram Crew Cab short bed5foot 7 truck and have recently purchased a 1/2 Ton fifth wheel Keystone Cougar. We were given the hitch upon purchase which i originally thought was great. It is a Pro Series 15k with square slider rails. I also purchased the sidewinder as i knew i was going to run into a clearance issue. From what i am reading, the square slide rails are not compatible with my truck nor should i be using a sidewinder with a rolling bar system. First off am I reading this correctly? What is the simplest fix for this? Can i take the top portion of that hitch off a purchase replacement fixed legs? I also have a question in regards to mounting the wedge on the sidewinder,

You can use a Sidewinder pin box with a slider hitch but you'll just have to leave the slider hitch slid forward at all times. Ideally you run a stationary hitch as it's less moving parts to create noise and less weight, but a slider hitch can still be used.

If you wanted to convert your hitch to a fixed hitch you'd just have to swap to the legs part # RP30727 and you'd be set. The wedge kit you'd then need is the part # 30850 which will give you the best fit between the hitch and the Sidewinder.
