Question:

Hello I recently purchased a 2019 MPG rv with Global hatch lock . I am not able to open the two forward hatch locks. It appears the handle does not move the latch far enough to release the door? I have taken the system apart but not able to determine the cause of problem. Also all the lock mechanisms 4 total appears to be more corroded than a new locks should be! I was thinking the unlocking problem may be a common problem and a solution may be available? Thank You

I honestly have not heard of many issues at all when it comes to the locking mechanisms on the Global Link Door Latch Kits like # 295-000019 that would be on your brand new MPG RV. If the existing locks feature two lock cylinders like the mentioned unit I recommend making sure that both are completely un-engaged with the key before trying to open it.

Since you mentioned seeing some corrosion you might also apply a healthy dose of WD-40 or similar lubricant to the lock cylinders to try and free some of this up. This may be all that is required to get the locks working perfectly again.

If this doesn't resolve the issue then you could certainly replace the locks with new ones but I would also try and contact the dealer since something like this should hopefully still be under warranty on a 2019 model.
