Does Go Power Solar Extreme Charging System Use Inverter and Converter When Attached to Shore Power
Updated 06/18/2019 | Published 06/15/2019 >
Question:
Hello, On the weekender kits I see the factory converter-charger is wired on shore power side of transfer switch. Effectively allowing RV to run as normal under shore power. Switching to solar it is disabled and kit performs that function. On the higher end kits states inverter is inclusive of this and schematic does not show this factory integration of the wiring. Question, is the factory converter-charger eliminated and tise the gopower unit replaces it to perform function under the differt power supplies? Thank you

I spoke with Go Power about your question and this is what they sent me in response:
"They are correct in the weekender the converter is wired into the transfer switch so it only comes on when shore power is applied. In the larger kits the converter is disabled because the inverter also contains a converter. You don’t want the inverter powering a converter which is trying to charge the batteries. Big current draw loop."
They also sent me a picture that I attached to this page that shows a wiring diagram as well.
