Ball Mount Needed for 2009 Hyundai Elantra

Question:

Is a receiver rise of 3.5 inch enough for the Elantra. When I measure the level trailer small boat it appears to need a total of about 8. so is the 3.5 plus the ball itself enough? I looked at other questions and the 3.5 inch rise seems standard.

The correct ball mount for your 2009 Hyundai Elantra is actually going to depend on what hitch you have. The reason for this is that only Class I hitches are available for your vehicle, and these hitches require certain ball mounts, per the manufacturer.

I'll list the hitches that fit as well as the required ball mounts for your vehicle; the hitches that fit depend on if your '09 Elantra is a Sedan or Touring model.

2009 Hyundai Elantra Sedan:

- Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24795 needs Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3594 (4" Rise)
- Curt Trailer Hitch # C11467 needs Curt Drawbar # C45521 (2-5/8" Rise)

2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring:

- Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24844 needs Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3594 (4" Rise)
- Curt Trailer Hitch # C11471 needs Curt Drawbar # C45520 (3-1/8" Rise)

The Draw-Tite ball mount comes with a pin and clip, though the Curt ball mounts require Pin and Clip # F-4. For all of these ball mounts you can use either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # A-80 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-82 depending on the size ball your trailer coupler accepts.

For trailer wiring on your 2009 Elantra you will need either T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118433 for a Sedan or T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118473 is you have a Touring model.
