Question:

I have the Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole with Tester and Cover 47345 but it will not fit the plug on my 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. I used your fit guide and the 47345 was recommended. Will the 7-Pole Round Pin to 4-Flat Adapter 47405 work instead?

The best option we have for you would be to replace the trailer connector on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas with the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket part # HM40975 which is a plug and play option. The reason that this is the best option for you is because adapters like the Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole with Tester and Cover part # 47345 can have different tolerances which is the only reason that I can think of as to why it will not work for you. These types of adapters are also prone to failures so it will be a much better option to just replace the trailer connector for one that has both 4 and 7-way trailer connection points like the above.

The 7-Way Round Pin to 4-Flat Adapter part # 47405 will not work for you because it is for a 7-way round style not 7-way blade style. If you don't want to change out the trailer connector then your best option is the Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter part # PK12716.
