Question:
How is the noise with this basket on top of the car?

Expert Reply:
Any object on the roof of a vehicle will make some wind noise at highway speed and this includes roof racks themselves, roof cargo baskets like the Yakima Load Warrior # Y07070 and even the more aerodynamic enclosed carriers like their RocketBox Pro 14 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07192. If its up there it'll make some noise. For most of us, it won't take too long on the highway to decide to roll up the windows.
What you load into your cargo basket will tend to be what makes the most noise but you can reduce this to a degree by selecting a basket like the Load Warrior that includes a wind-deflecting fairing to push air up and over the basket and its contents. You can also keep noise down by making sure your cargo items are secure. If you wanted to load a fabric duffel bag like # RL100S20 into the basket, for example, if this is full so that the fabric is taut it will have less tendency to flap around in the wind than if it was half-full. Using multiple bungees like # EM06664 19", # EM06656 24", # EM06658 36", and # EM06668 42" can help too.
I recommend a simple folding step for use with the carrier, the Camco # CAM43676, which is compact, lightweight, fully-assembled and a cost-effective way to give you easier roof access for loading and unloading.
