Curt Echo Shows Braking Output With Turn Signal Applied

Question:

Purchased the wireless brake controller to use with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Factory installed trailer package. It appears on my phone that the turn signals are bleeding over and the trailer brakes are activating with the pulse of the turn signals. I do not feel the brakes being applied by the trailer, but am concerned that they may be activating when I am not applying the vehicle brakes. Is there something I should be doing differently?

There is a possibility that power from either trailer stop/turn signal wire is blending over onto the brake output circuit but this is not very likely. However, it is also easy to test. What you will want to do is plug the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 into your vehicle with the trailer connector attached. Take a circuit tester and test the brake output wire just behind the trailer side trailer connector with either turn signal applied.

If you get any power here then there is an issue on the brake output circuit. If that is the case then make sure to check all the trailer connectors for corrosion or loose wires but if none are found you might need to replace the Echo. If you don't get any power here then the app might just be not reading real time so you would want to reinstall it.
