How to Clear Retract Time Out Return Levelers Error on LCI Level Up System

Question:

I had a retract timeout error and I did what you said to clear it then after I did that I now have a right up error message and the right front and back light is illuminated red. How do I clear that?

Expert Reply:

If the touch pad is showing "Retract Time out Return Levelers for service" all you need to do is hit, enter and retract at the same time. That will clear that code. I confirmed this with our contacts at Lippert.

Is it the same error described above? If so, did you try following the procedure Jameson described? If it didn't clear/resolve the error, make sure your battery source is still fully charged and in good condition. A weak battery has also been known to trigger this error message.

@ChrisR i have full battery with that code "retract timeout " but holding power and retrac does nothing

@AlexC Are you able to manually retract your jack(s)? If the manual operation works but not when you use the power then there may be a plug disconnected or possibly some damaged wiring. I'd start there and then I can help you troubleshoot further if that doesn't fix it.

I had removed my batteries during the winter for the 2nd year in a row. Reinstalled a month ago and all seemed fine. today when I turned on the ignition, I heard a beeping that eventually stopped after 10 seconds or so. I found out that the leveling system was producing that code and the levelers were retracted. Tomorrow I'll go back to the storage yard and try the reset trick you mentioned. This would be much better than driving 45 miles to the dealer and leaving it until they have time to look at it. Thank you for the advise

Press two buttons simultaneously and the error disappeared and the jacks go up and down. Saved me a trip to the dealer Thank you

@JamesonC Do you know if there is a more "permanent" fix to this "Retract time out. return… error? I get it the error repeatably, about every time I go to use it. Error clears with the holding the enter/retract, but on next use, the error message is back. Never ending cycle....

@MarkH We've had Lippert tell us that it's typically a weak battery or bad wiring that causes this problem. So I'd check to make sure your battery is solid and then check the wiring connections.

I had the ‘retract timeout’ error code too. Pressing enter and retract cleared the error. The control panel returned to a normal status and the LCI Jack System is now working just fine. Thanks Jameson.

@JamesonC our '23 Winnebago gave us the Retract Timer, Returner Levelers for Service as we were returning home from a trip. I did the Retract/Enter buttons and the jacks retract but within a few seconds the lt rear jacks slowly creeps down about 2-2.5 inches. Have tried this a few times and the same result every time.

@AlH A slowly dropping LCI Level-Up system is usually caused by internal hydraulic bypass (bad check valve/seal), air in the lines, or low fluid. To fix it, try cycling the jacks up/down 3-4 times to purge air, check for external leaks, add anti-stiction fluid, or clean the cylinder shafts.
