USA Made Trailer Tire Recommendation for Open Range 3X427BHS

Published 05/08/2019

Question:

I have the Open Range 3X427BHS and it has G rated China tires on it. West Lake I think 235/80/16 I’d like to upgrade to something more reliable but I’m worried about going with a China tire. I know these tires are a little bigger but my camper rides uphill due to the height of my truck stock 14 3500 SRW Chevy so these tires might help it get closer to level. Would I be ok going with Item # TTWPRG235R16 which has an nice rating but is “made in China”?

I looked up the GVWR of your Open Range 3X427BHS and it can weigh up to 16,300 lbs and the trailer has a tandem axle which means 4 tires to split that weight. This means you'll need a minimum of 4,075 lb capacity per tire. recommend the Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G Item # TTWPRG235R16 has a capacity of 4,400 max load at 110 psi. This will fit well, have enough capacity, has a great speed rating of 81 mph. Even though it is not made in the USA, it is a very durable tire and is made to USA specifications.
