Question:
Nissan Pathfinder platinum 2014 Do we need to add an extra coil for transmission cooling if we tow 5000lbs

If you are planning on maxing out the 5,000 lb towing capacity of your 2014 Nissan Pathfinder then yes, it would be wise to install a supplemental transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13502. Since you will really be pushing your transmission to its limits this additional cooler will help to reduce some of the heat stress, but towing at max capacity will still be pretty rough on your vehicle.
I also recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET (use the thin-walled socket # EQ70-00-4800 for hitch ball installation) and the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4118. These will also help to reduce the stress on your Pathfinder by giving it some extra support.
Attached are some videos and helpful articles that give you some additional information about transmission cooler placement and weight distribution.
