Does Saris Bones 3-Bike Rack Need to be Modified in Any Way to Work on 2017 Mazda CX-5

Question:

I thought I read that fur my Mazda cx-5 I needed to switch out the metal clips/tabs that attach the straps to my car. Something about the top clips maybe needing to be switched out. Can you tell me how I need to modify this thing to fit my car and sell me the parts to do it? Thanks.

I have some great news for you because absolutely no modification or additional parts are needed to use the Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier # SA801BL on your 2017 Mazda CX-5.

The only important notes Saris has regarding installation of this rack on your car is to place the lower feet into the license plate well of your car.

In regards to something being switched out you may have been thinking of the Yakima FullBack 3-Bike Rack # Y02633 because with this rack the upper and lower hooks need to be installed in anchor mode, which is actually a pretty simple process and also doesn't require any extra parts.

Just keep in mind that when using any hanging rack like the Bones or FullBack you'll need bike frame adapter bar # SA3040 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.
