Recommendation to Reduce Sag on Left Side of Class C Motorhome without Using Air Bags

Updated 03/21/2019 | Published 03/20/2019

Question:

I just bought a new RV. It sags to the left and this seems to be an issue for this model. The manufacturer put the slide, generator, fresh water tank, kitchen all on the left side. From what I read it weighs 550 pounds more on the left. There is about a 3-4 inch sag on the left. I would like to beef up the suspension to level out the coach. I do not want to mess with air bags. What would you recommend?

To help level out your new RV that's built on the Ford E-350 chassis I recommend taking a look at the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFER35092B. These heavy-duty jounce-style springs will replace the factory bump stops on the rear axle to better support the RV's load and help to bring the left side of the coach up for a more level ride.

A jounce-style spring system like this will definitely improve your existing left side sag but there is a chance that it won't lift it up quite enough to create a completely level setup. Unlike with an air bag system, these springs don't allow for any kind of adjustability of one side over the other.

The Timbren springs do offer a really simple installation process that doesn't require any drilling or maintenance down the line. I have attached the written instructions and a short video that you can check out.

Another good option that does allow for some adjustability (while still staying away from air bags) is the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer # SSA22. This system essentially adds extra leaf springs to your suspension to reduce your sag and any sway you might be experiencing. A great thing about the assemblies is that upon installation you can actually choose a setting for increased load support. This means you could choose a stronger setting for the left side of the trailer and go with one on the right side that simply maintains its current ride.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this system so you can get a better idea as to how it works.
