Does Curt Hitch # C13329 Fit 2019 Kia Niro Hybrid
Updated 12/27/2025 | Published 03/15/2019 >
Question:
Why does it say I fits 2018-2019 Niro excluding the hybrid? Is that a misprint? I thought they are all hybrid unless I’m wrong. Just wanting to purchase it.

The Curt hitch part # C13329 is not listed as a fit for the Plug In Hybrid versions of the 2019 Kia Niro although we had one customer come back and say they were able to install it on a plug in version but they had to modify the hitch and the vehicle to do so.

I made the fortuitous mistake of buying this for our 2018 plug-in hybrid. When entering the make and model, I failed to notice that there's a selection for filtering to the PHEV, so I ordered it for the general Niro option. If you do select the PHEV model, the search doesn't turn up any matching hitch mounts. That is, it didn't for me, tho a customer service rep turned found this one, which is compatible with the 2020 PHEV: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/EcoHitch/EH72KR.html. I couldn't find a clear confirmation that the frame on a 2020 is identical to that of a 2018, so I decided not to risk buying that one (also because it costs twice as much). The C13329 is incompatible with the PHEV because of a frame attachment on the passenger side. I assume it's a wiring conduit for the battery -- it's in that general area. If you look at the side flanges on the EH72KR, you can see a little notch cut away , about 1/2" from the top and 4" wide. If you reproduce that cutaway on the Curt C13329 (passenger side only), it'll fit the PHEV. I was able to cut it quite easily using an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel.
