Recommended Hitch for a 2015 Ford Edge SEL for a Bike Rack and Occasional Towing
Published 01/27/2022 >
Question:
I am looking for a trailer hitch for a 2015 Ford Edge SEL Ecoboost. The primary reason for the hitch is a bike rack, with rare light duty towing. Do you have specific recommendations for this purpose, or will generally any hitch do well in this situation? Thank you.

The hitch that I recommend for your 2015 Ford Edge SEL for a bike rack and occasional light towing is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75214. This hitch is confirmed to fit the SEL model and has a bolt-on, no-drill installation. The main draw to this hitch is that it is a class III hitch which means it has a 2" hitch receiver opening. The benefit of this is that the 2" opening is the most common size used for hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and ball mounts for towing.
Since you mentioned towing, you will also want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118669, this will provide you with a 4-way trailer wiring connector to power a trailers signal lights. We also have ball mount kits like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 if you need a ball mount to tow a trailer.
If you are still looking into a bike rack, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y36FR. This bike rack can handle two bikes weighing up to 66lbs. per bike, has a tilt function that will allow you to access your rear cargo area and features a ramp that helps you with loading your bikes. The ramp then stores away behind the bike trays when not in use.
