Is it Normal for Pop & Lock to Only Lock Tailgate on 2017 Chevy Colorado When Pressed Twice

Updated 03/11/2019 | Published 03/09/2019

Question:

The locking mechanism installed easily as per the instructions, found the tan/ yellow, and grey wires, tested with a voltmeter, they got a pulse when locking or unlocking with the remote, but I have to click the lock button on the remote a second time for the tailgate to lock. Suggestions? 2017 Chevy Colorado, free cab z71

That may just be the standard operation for your 2017 Chevy Colorado Z71. I currently own a 2010 Chevy Equinox and you click the fob once for the driver side door to unlock but then twice if you want the passenger doors and/or rear hatch to open up. If your passenger door(s) don't lock until you press the button twice then it would make sense that the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8140 would operate in the same manner.

I reached out to my contact at Pop & Lock and he said that their locks don't change the standard operation of the locks on the vehicles they fit, they only operate when they get voltage. Since you installed everything correctly I would venture to say that your passenger doors don't lock unless you press the fob twice.
