Question:
I HAVE A 2008 SUNSEEKER I ORDERED A NEW LEPPERT STEP FROM YOU GUYS .MY WIREING HARNESS WASN.T LONG ENOUGH SO I CUT THE OLD HARDNESS IN HALF I USED IT . TO PLUG THE OTHER INTO THE OTHER HALF, WHERE I CUT IT IN HALF I WIRED IT BACK TOGETHER. NOW WITH THE KEY ON AN SWITCH ON THE STEP COMES OUT WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, OPEN DOOR THE STEP GOES IN.

It sounds like you may have mistakenly reversed the ignition and proximity switch wires when you extended the harness. Unfortunately, I don't have any schematic for your trailer but I do have them for the step your purchased, the Lippert Electric Tread Lite Step part # LC353542 and I have attached this for you. Try switching the wires on the trailer that go to the brown and yellow wires on the step.
