Left Handed Winch Recommendation with Automatic Brake
Published 02/28/2019 >
Question:
I bought this winch to use on my boat dock to secure the dock to the shore with a cable. I needed a left hand which because originally the dock had a winch on each side but I moved a locker which caused me to have to move one of the winches to another post on the outside of the locker. In order to do that I had to mount the right handed winch upside down. Mounting it this way make the lever type of brake not stay in place. I added this long story only to ask if the product I purchased will work in this application? I am not sure if it will always have enough resistance to keep the brake ingaged? I hope this explaintion makes sense? Thanks

The Dutton Lainson Handwinch part # DL16331 is a left handed winch like you need and has an automatic brake so it would work well for your needs. The brake is automatic so it will automatically apply when you release the handle like you want.
