Storage Compartment Door Locks and Related Parts for Flagstaff 5th Wheel

Question:

This is what happened. My brand new Ford F250 has an automatic tailgate for opening and closing. The darn thing opened by itself while I was towing my fifth wheel and when I pulled in for gas as I made a turn I noticed it was open but too late, it had dug a hole into the compartment storage door of my Forest River Model 8528CKWS fifth wheel. Do you have a replacement for this door?

We do offer parts like Baggage Door Slam Latches # 295-000015 a well as lock and key parts but I am sorry but we do not sell trailer-specific parts such as a front compartment door. You'll need to get that for your Flagstaff from Forest River. I recommend having your trailer VIN handy when you call them.

Your issue with the automatic tailgate feature on your 2018 Ford F-250 is already under investigation by the NHTSA, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. I mention this in case you have interest in following that case to see if there is monetary recourse from Ford for the damaged door on your Forest River.

The issue has not yet merited a safety recall, but it is possible that it might be escalated to that. The affected models are presumed to be manufactured before June 7, 2017.
