Will a Yakima SkyRise Tent Work With a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack

Question:

The quick release clamps for the Yakima rooftop tent and the slat openings of the pioneer platform do not line up properly to attach the rooftop tent to the platform system rails. I can get cross bars where it would allow the Yakima tent clamps to attach however, the cross rails sit flush with the platform system and the Yakima clamps can not get around the cross bars due to them sitting flush. How can I get my Yakima tent to work with the platform system and still use the quick release clamping style on the Yakima tent to ensure it’s secure? Thanks.

I do have options for you to use a Yakima SkyRise Tent like part # Y07406 but I am not aware of any solution that will allow you to use it with a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack. The two products are not designed to be used together nor would either manufacturer warranty their product if something were to go wrong.

Therefore, the best option for you would be to use a standard roof rack. If you can provide me with the year, make, and model of your vehicle I would be glad to provide you with options for a standard roof rack. The other option you have if you do not want to remove you Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack would be to use a ladder rack like the Yakima OutPost HD Mid-Height Truck Bed Rack part # Y01152 with the Yakima HD Crossbars part # Y01158 but this option would only work for you if you have a pickup truck.
