Sidewinder Replacement for MORryde RPB72-1621HD Pin Box

Updated 01/29/2019 | Published 01/28/2019

Question:

I have a 2018 F-150, short bed 5 ft. pulling a 27 ft. 5th wheel rated at 10,000 lb. The existing pin box is a Mor/Ryde by Norco Part # RPB721621HD What sidewinder would work best? Using your measuring specs the numbers come out like this. 5th wheel center of jaw to cab = 27 Sidewinder guessing here = 22 Trailer width / 2 = 48 1 inch left over I have a 16K Reese slider hitch.

Thanks for the part number of your MORryde RPB72-1621HD; based on that you had a Lippert 1621HD pin box which can be replaced by the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin # RP34FR, which has a 16,000 lb capacity.

You are correct about the 22 inches you referred to in the formula, though it should be noted that there needs to be at least 4 inches left over in order for you to safely execute a 90 degree turn. Additionally, please keep in mind that you will not be able to use the sliding feature of your hitch with the Sidewinder and you should keep your hitch locked in the forward position.

I have added a link to a video review of the Sidewinder as well as an installation video for you to take a look at.
