Will 2002 Chevy Tahoe or 2005 Chevy Suburban be Able to Tow a 6,000 lb GVWR Trailer

Question:
Hi Im looking at purchasing a vehicle to pull a camper trailer that has a GVWR of 6000lbs. The two vehicles I have my eye on are a 2002, 5.3L Chevy Tahoe and a 2005 5.3L Chevy Suburban. Max Towing Capacities are 8,700 and 8,100 respectively. We will be towing the trailer across Canada in all types of terrain, for 6 months. Wondering if you think these vehicles will be able to handle the trailer.

If the max trailer towing capacities of the 2002 Chevy Tahoe and 2005 Chevy Suburban are 8,700 lbs and 8,100 lbs then they should be able to handle a trailer with a GVWR of 6,000 lbs although you would benefit from a weight distribution (WD) system like the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66559 as well as a transmission cooler.
If you don't already have a brake controller then I highly recommend using the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR because it is the only brake controller on the market that features trailer braking that is controlled both proportionally and time-delayed. This makes it the best controller for a wide variety of terrain settings like what you mentioned. It can also be installed virtually anywhere due to the installation design and smaller control knob.
