Question:
I have an equipment trailer that can have variation in the amount of total weight and tongue weight, depending on what I need to haul. I believe the 1,000 lb bars in this setup will cover most of my hauling scenarios, but at what point should I be looking at lower rated bars? Will these 1,000 lb bars be effective down to a 600 lb tongue weight? For tongue weights below 600 lbs, is there any issue just removing the bars while towing?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System part # FA92-00-1000 is an extremely versatile system that can accommodate a varying degree of tongue weights from 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs. If you are under the 600 lb rating then you are perfectly fine though it might not perform as well as when you are right in the sweet spot which is about 800 lbs for this particular system. I would say that at around 400 lbs I would either A remove the spring bars or B install a set better rated for the weight of your trailer at that particular time, part # FA92-01-0899. Please keep in mind that although your trailer is lighter with less of a load that doesn't mean you wouldn't need sway control or have issues with trailer sway so it might be a good ideal to keep a second set of spring bars just in case.
The only thing you will need to use this system is a hitch ball such as part # EQ91-00-6080 for 2" or part # EQ91-00-6100 for 2-5/16".
