Question:
2009 Newmar Torrey Pine. 15025 lbs dry 18450 lbs GVWR Hitch 2855 lbs The trailer came out with LT235/85R-16 tires -E rated. 80psi recommended on the sticker. The spare is a G rated tire. The wheels are rated for 110psi. The axles are 9000 lb. axles. Each axle has duals. 8 tires on the ground. According to my math, the E rated tire is more than enough to handle the weight. But, everybody says put G rated on it. What is your advice and why?

Expert Reply:
As long as your tire capacity is above the needed capacity for the trailer you will be totally fine. Having a bit extra capacity sure doesn't hurt but it's not a requirement. For the weight of your trailer fully loaded and only having two axles you'd need individual tire capacity of 4,612 lb which is why a G rated tire like the part # TTWPRG235R16 is recommended as it has a capacity of 4,400-lb max load at 110 psi.
