Is Top Plastic Piece Supposed to be Removed from Thule Quick Grip Mount Assembly

Question:
I have a quick grip system with my Thule cargo box and the top screws were unscrewed completely when I removed the box from my old car. Now that im ready to install the box on my new car I cant seem to get the plastic screws rethreaded into the grips. Any suggestions? It doesnt look like they were designed to come out and get reinstalled.

You are correct in that the top piece is not supposed to be removed from the Quick Grip Mount Assembly # TH05738. Unfortunately you will need to replace the whole mount assembly. I confirmed this with my contact at Thule.
