Thule Force XT L Lock / Knob Not Engaging or Freezing

Question:

Hi we have a new Thule roof top carrier. It worked fine the first time we used it, but now the locks on both sides won’t engage. The gray lock won’t turn. To be able to make it home, I had to push the release mechanisms. It is doing it on both sides, and nothing is blocking it.

I will need a little more background information if possible. Were you driving through wet/rainy/snowy conditions? If so what was the approximate outside temperature? I have seen new or used cargo boxes, not just the Thule Force XT L # TH6357B, but others from various manufacturers that will tend to freeze up the locking mechanisms or the release knobs in these wet/colder weather conditions. If that is the case, a light application of a water displacement spray will do the job for many future uses. You can use the provided tube to put a little around the knob, and even a little amount inside the keyhole or on the key, test the use and function and wipe any excess away before loading it up for your next trip.
