The Redarc Tow Pro Elite brake controller part # RED44FR is a really great option that only needs the install harness part # 331-TPH-007 to install in your 2018 Ford F-150. This harness plugs into the controller and then into the port under the dash of your truck and the wiring aspect is done. It's a really nice controller too since, like you mentioned, it only has a really small knob that gets mounted on the dash or console. The controller is also proportional which means that it uses an inertia sensor to detect how hard you are applying the brakes and applies a proportional amount to the trailer brakes.
I attached a review video for this controller for you to check out as well.
