On the 24x48-3/4 Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier, # M2200, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier is 4 inches. On the 2010 Honda Pilot, it will clear the rear bumper but you will not be able to raise the rear hatch with the carrier in place.

What I recommend is an enclosed carrier that swings out to the side so that you have complete access to the rear of the vehicle and can open the rear hatch. Take a look at the Rola Swinging Enclosed Cargo Carrier, # 59109. As you can see in the pictures, the carrier will swing out to the right allowing the hatch to open. It has 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space, you can lock it, and you can take the top part off to use just the flat tray.

I have included a link to the installation details and links to some videos on this carrier for you.
