Why Would Air Lift Compressor Kit on Truck Cycle with No Trailer Connected

Question:
Just had air bags installed on my new 2019 ram 4x4 Laramie. Should the compressor cycle when truck is unloaded.

Expert Reply:
The air bags need to have a minimum of 5 psi in them at all times so that the hold their shape and not damage themselves. If your bag pressure dips below 5 (or whatever your preset minimum pressure is) the compressor will auto kick on to make sure it's where it needs to be. If this is happening quite a bit you most likely have a leak and you'd want to go over all of the air lines to see if you can find where the leak is. Most leaks are from air tubing not being cut totally square.
