Question:
The ladder on my 2001 Tiffin Allegro Bay 36DB motorhome is damaged. What replacement ladder should I get? Can I install it myself or should I take it to an RV center?

Expert Reply:
You can replace the ladder on your Tiffin Allegro motorhome yourself as long as you can choose a replacement that fits on the same mounting points. This matters because RV ladders must be affixed to a structural component of the RV's frame; just the outer skin will not provide the necessary strength to support weight.
You can see our exterior ladders like 99-1/2-inch # LA-401 that you referenced and the Surco Universal 84-1/2-inch ladder # SP502L on the linked page.
RV makers do not maintain specs on smaller items like ladders so there is no way for us to look up the original. But if you match dimensions and use the original mounting points you should be fine. There is a good chance one of our ladders is an exact match for your OEM ladder.
