Does the interior frame screw into the exterior frame? I cannot find a picture of the side of the exterior frame that touches the door to see how its mounted.

Yes, the interior frame part number # A77012 that you referenced does screw to the exterior frame part # A77008 that you referenced and that's how the two pieces are held together. The interior frame has screw holes and then the outside frame has anchors that the screws attach to.
