Question:
I have just purchased a used homemade goose neck horse trailer with no safety chains. Will the AM3109 clamp securely around a standard goose neck coupler tube? The design of the coupler doesnt really give a place to bolt a standard set of chains to the frame of the trailer

Expert Reply:
The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100 measures 4-1/2 inches in diameter on the outside and the Safety Chains # AM3109 fit around the adapter, as you can see in the accompanying photo. So as long as your gooseneck coupler has a 4-1/2 inch outer tube the chains will fit around it.
