Question:

I have a Mercedes Sprinter van. It has a factory option called Parktronic, a series of sensors that measure distance and let me know if I am backing into something. When a trailer is attached the rear sensors are disabled. I assume through the electrical trailer plug-in. My question is how do I manage this if I want to attach a receiver mounted bike carrier? Is there dummy/blankplug I can get that will trick the system into thinking I have a trailer attached when in fact it is a bike carrier?

I am not sure if this will have enough draw but we have testers like the Curt LED Tester # I26 which puts a small load on a 4-Way Flat connector. This is used to make sure that your wiring is working correctly but it may be enough to trick your sensors.

If you have a 7-Way then I recommend using the Tow Ready # 20142 as it will simulate a draw as well.

Please note that both of these products are designed to be plugged in for short periods of time and haven't been tested for prolonged use.

You may also want to speak with your local Mercedes-Benz dealer to see if they have any solutions or if it can be disabled while you are carrying a bike rack.
