From what I could find it looks like if it is a FWD you can tow it using a tow dolly and if you have a 4WD then it needs to be towed with all of the wheels off of the ground. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can flat tow your 2012 Kia Sportage though. You can verify this with your copy of the owner's manual or your nearest Kia dealer.

If you have a FWD and would like a tow dolly then I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1. This has a weight capacity of 4,250 lbs and comes with electric brakes to help keep your braking nice and smooth. You will need a 6-Way # PK11604 or 7-Way # PK12706 connector and a brake controller like the P2 # 90885 to be able to utilize the brakes.

The tow dolly comes with lighting but sometimes adding magnetic lights like the Optronics # TL21RK is helpful as it increases your visibility.

Attached is a review video for this dolly for you to check out.
