Are Nuts that Come with Trailer Suspension Kit # AP233 Lock Nuts
Updated 10/02/2018 | Published 10/01/2018 >
Question:
I just bought AP 233 package and a bit surprised there is no means to lock on the nut of the shackle bolt. The rusted ones Im replacing had castle nuts with cotter pins. Likewise for my U-bolt kit. Do you recommend anything?

Expert Reply:
The threads of the nuts that come with the Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers # AP233 that you referenced are considered lock nuts. They should thread pretty tightly once the nut gets significantly onto the bolt which prevents it from backing off.
