Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11522 will not require any trimming of the rear bumper diffuser on your 2018 Mini Countryman. I've attached a photo of the installed hitch for you and have also included the installation details to assist.
If you will be doing some light towing with this hitch, I recommend the Curt Class II Drawbar # C45521 along with pin and clip # F-4, and hitch ball like # A-82 for a 2 inch diameter or # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter to match the trailer coupler.
For trailer wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha Zero Contact Interface harness # 119250KIT which has sensors to capture the signal without splicing into the wiring or removing any wiring insulation. This harness is very well made and will require a power wire from your battery to ensure you don't overload your factory wiring circuits or electronics.
