They do not make a class II trailer hitch for your 2012 BMW X3 xDrive28i, only a class III like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13316. This will be a much better option for you anyway as it has a higher weight rating and will work with more hitch mounted accessories.
I assume you want a class II hitch because you have an accessory with a 1-1/4" shank. If that is the case then please let me know what that accessory is as there is more than likely a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter that will allow you to use it. If it is a bike rack or cargo carrier I need both the brand and model.
