Was wondering if you can use this with salt spreader as long not trailer attached.

An important thing to keep in mind when using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # # D210 or any similar adapter is that it will reduce the tongue weight capacity on your trailer hitch by 50 percent. For example if the trailer hitch on your truck has a tongue weight limit of 500 pounds, this will be reduced to 250 pounds when using the adapter. As long as the weight of your loaded salt spreader remains under the reduced capacity of your hitch, there is no reason you couldn't use it with this adapter when you aren't towing a trailer.

If the extension or rise that the adapter provides is not needed though, I recommend just removing it and attaching your salt spreader directly to the hitch receiver on the truck.
