Recommended Roof Rack to Work with Hullavator on Leer Truck Cap

Question:

I have a leer cap and 5.5ft bed. Im looking for a system that is self supporting, as in not mounted to cap but bed wall under the cap lip compatible with the hullavator. Referring to picture. That style cross bar system.

We do have a nice selection of ladder racks that are designed to mount to the top of a truck cap like what you have, such as the Thule TracRac # TH29200XT, however we do not have a ladder rack available that installs on the outside of the bed rails to allow it to fit with a cap or cover.

In researching the type of ladder rack that you described, it also doesn't appear that they would be compatible with the Thule Hullavator Kayak Carrier # TH898, as they do not feature crossbars that extend past the side of the truck. The Hullavator requires crossbars that extend 4 to 8 inches beyond the mounting feet to ensure sufficient clearance between it and the vehicle.

The above mentioned TracRac Ladder Rack includes 65 inch long crossbars so they should have no problem meeting this requirement. You will also just want to make sure that the Leer cap has the needed weight capacity for the Hullavator. For safe operation with the Hullavator the cap's weight capacity needs to be at least 130 pounds.
