Comparing the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR35DS with a Tie Down G5 Disc Brake Kit

Question:

Hi, I converted my boat trailer drums to this kit a year ago, and after one year of use the rotor is badly scored, and the pads worn by about half. was thinking of converting over to the kodiak system. Ive heard of others using the tie down G5 of having similar performance. Is that a common experience?

Do you currently have a disc brake kit? If it was that badly damaged within a year then you either got a bad set of brakes, something was installed incorrectly, or you have an issue on your trailer that needs to be fixed. The Kodiak kit # K2HR35DS comes with a 3-year warranty so if it was a product defect I would cash-in on that warranty.

Since we don't carry the Tie Down G5 disc brake kit it is a little difficult to compare them side-by-side, but one of the major things that I noticed is that the G5 kit that I looked at said it couldn't be used with an electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) system that produces more than 1,000 psi whereas the Kodiak kit mentioned above requires a psi rating of at least 1,500.

So not only does the Kodiak kit # K2HR35DS feature Dacromet-plated hub-and-rotor assemblies, as well as stainless steel calipers and dacromet mounting brackets, but it also is much stronger than the G5 system.

If you have a specific G5 kit you were referring to please let me know and I can make sure that I am making a fair comparison.
