Question:
I have a 2004 grand Cherokee that I am installing a brake controller on. It did not come factory with a hitch or light wiring. I have installed a hitch and a 4 way connector. Looking under my dash I do have the blue brake controller wire. I have the brake controller installed but I can’t find the blue wire at the back of the vehicle. It has been a while since I installed the 4 way so I can’t remember if the brake wire is located close to the 4 way connection. Is the wire behind the left rear panel where the 4 way plugs in? Or is it located under the vehicle near the hitch?

To activate the trailer brakes you are going to need a 7-Way trailer connector since the 4-Way only has the light functions. Since you already have a 4-Way installed all you will need is # ETBC7. This will negate the need to locate that blue wire which I am not sure even runs all the way to the rear of the vehicle. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
