Question:
Will a chip help with towing a 4500 pound travel trailer. Pulling with a 2012 GMC Sierra 4.8 liter and is good on flat but kicks down on hills and revs to 3500 to 4000 rpm to maintain 90 kmph.

So the kick down mechanism of a vehicle with an automatic transmission is based on the throttle position. So if you install a programmer in your 2012 GMC Sierra like the Superchips part # SU2845 which will give you an additional 11 ft lbs of torque and horsepower you wouldn't have to have your foot as far into the accelerator when towing so the kick downs would be less often. It wouldn't make a massive difference but you'll notice it not kicking down as often.
A cold air intake like the # AR200-244 in combination with this will help out even more.
