Question:
my trailer is 30 amps so I had to use an adapter at the rv campgrounds because all the boxes are 50 amps. I want to add a surge protector. Do I get a 30 or 50? Im confused because the box is 50 but my plug is 30.

For your 30 Amp trailer you will want the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor - 30 Amp # CAM55301. This will monitor voltage and automatically disconnect when dangerous levels are detected and then reconnect when voltage stabilizes. This is a great option to allow protection from multiple surges. You may want to consider the Camco Power Grip Cable with Lock # CAM44290 to secure your investment.
If you were to use a 50 amp unit, then there could be spikes that could damage your 30 amp trailer without being dangerous for a 50 amp trailer. It would not be the correct fit to your trailer as your trailer could still experience damage if you were to use a 50 amp surge protector.
Another option is the Camco RV Power Defender Circuit Analyzer Dogbone - 125V - 30 Amp # CAM55312. This is a less expensive option because it only protects against one time surge protector. It will protect your trailer, but will not reconnect to protect against a second surge.
