Can a harness be added or current factory installed 5 pin harness be modified to allow for electronic trailer brakes. I have factory installed class II 3500 lbs. hitch installed. California requires electronic brakes, current harness is a 5 pin.

We can help you upgrade the trailer wiring on your 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 to the 7-way type to enable use of a trailer brake controller like the excellent Prodigy P3 # 90195.
Kit # ETBC7 includes a 7-way vehicle socket and all of the connectors and components needed to install a brake controller. This will be a hardwire installation as shown in the linked article and video which shows a Mercedes-Benz install.
You can avoid the connection issues and hassles of using wiring adapters by converting your trailer over to the same 7-way format. The simplest way is to use a pre-wired junction box # HS381-9000 which allows you to easily make the necessary wiring connections on the trailer using ring terminals # 44-5310A.
