I do have options for you that will allow you to open your trunk with a bike rack installed but the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier part # SA805BL which is a fit for your 2016 Ford Focus cannot be left installed while the trunk is being opened. This has to do with both the added weight of the rack in addition to the chance of interference. In order to allow for access to the trunk with a bike rack installed you will want to use either a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack or a roof rack and roof mounted bike rack.

If you can give me some more info on the vehicle (Sedan/Hatchback, ST/RS/SE) then I would be happy to recommend a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack or roof rack and roof mounted bike rack for you. Please keep in mind that either of these options will be less cost effective than a traditional trunk mounted bike rack. I have attached a review video on the Saris Bones for you as well.
