Capacity of Trailer Axle that Measures 1-3/4 inches in Diameter

Question:

I have a 12 foot by 6 foot double axle trailer. The tires are a load B rated 4.80 x 12 inch tires. I pulled the worn axle sticker off the axle and it is a LaSalle Deitch axle, 1 3/4 inches in diameter. The serial # is 208920. Would you know the carrying capacity for these axles. Also, would it be advantageous to go to a 4 lug 13 inch tires for better stability at high speeeds 55 mph.

Based on the diameter of your axle you most likely have a 2,000 lb axle capacity. So 4,000 lb since it's a tandem axle trailer.

Upgrading to a 13 inch wheel and tire like the part # AM3S030 would be a great option as long as you have the room for the additional height of 24.1 inches.

Sounds like you have 2,000 lb axles on your trailer. You'll want to verify this by checking the label on the axle as the 2K rating is just an assumption.
