Tow Bar Adaptor Needed for Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar to Demco Base Plate Kit

Published 06/18/2018

Question:

You told us our Roadmaster Stowmaster will work with the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit. Our 1998 Chevrolet Tracker 4 door is 4 wheel drive with free wheeling hubs. Is there any issue flat towing with the free wheeling hubs?

The Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501 that you are currently using has arms that are fixed to the quick-disconnect system. Since the RoadMaster Tow Bar to Demco Base Plates Adapter # RM-034 connects to the arms individually you will need to upgrade your tow bar to a system like the Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 which allows you to take the quick-disconnect system off.

I wish there was an adapter for the StowMaster, but it was designed to be cost-effective so some of the extra features, like adapter compatibility, are lost on it. I attached a review video of the Falcon All-Terrain for you to reference.

The free wheeling hubs just keep your wheels from rotating the gears on your Jeep. There shouldn't be any problems with this at all as long as you follow any instructions in your owner's manual regarding flat towing.
