Hi there. I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Sedan and I am interested in the C18145 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4inch and 2inch Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs. I saw the customer photo of an Elantra carrying two large trash cans on the cargo carrier, which is what I would like to do. My question is this- If I got a trunk bike rack for my car, would there be enough room to carry one bike on the rack and also the two trash cans as pictured? I cannot tell how much space would be available between the back of the car and the cans. Thank you!

Trunk mounted bike racks end up carrying the bikes almost exactly where a hitch bike rack would carry them which would interfere with trash cans on a hitch carrier. Even if the carrier was empty the rack and bikes would cause an issue most likely. Only way to accomplish carrying the bikes and the hitch cargo carrier would be with a hitch for the # C18145 like the Draw Tite # 24902 and then a roof rack for bike racks.
Then for a roof rack you'd want the Rhino Rack part numbers # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK301. Then for a roof bike rack teh Malone Pilot TCS part # MPG2103 would be a great option that fits and won't break the bank.
