What is the Offset and Backspacing of Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire and Wheel

Updated 08/23/2011 | Published 08/21/2011

Question:

What is the depth measurement from the outside edge of the wheel to the edge of the pilot hole? In other words, how much offset is there? I have a tight area to fit these in.

The Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire and Wheel, # AM30859, has a zero offset. But it sounds like you are talking about backspacing. The backspacing is 2-1/2 inches. I calculated this by taking the wheel width, 4 inches from bead to bead, then adding 1 inch to account for both lips of the wheel. Take that 5 inches and divide it by 2 to get the backspacing.

The width of the tire as mounted on the wheel is 5-1/2 inches and it is 22 inches tall.

Offset would be where the mounting and pilot holes are in relation to the wheel center. A zero offset puts the holes in the center of the wheel. A positive offset will have the mounting surface further out from the trailer and a negative offset will have the mounting surface closer to the trailer.
