Does Rear Bumper Support Weight of Saris Bones Trunk Mounted Bike Rack

Question:

Saris instructions and your video show that the bottom two feet must rest on the bumper. That’s a concern. I believe the bumper is mo more than styrofoam covered with a plastic shell. A video on Yakima instructs theirs users to be sure not to put on the bumper but on the area by the license plate. Can you clarify.

Our trunk mounted bike rack manufacturers test all of the available areas for their racks to mount and for your 2014 Toyota Prius the best area is the rear bumper. It may not seem like the bumper area is strong but it's more reinforced than you might think so it would work well.

The instructions for the Saris Bones part # SA805BL would need to be adhered to.
