Question:
I have a 16023 puck system, on top of that, is a 16550 roller r-20 and on top of that is a 16540 hitch head A-20. So i tried to put the sound dampening pads 16900 on but the ONLY way I could get the pins in was to replace the 1/2 in pins with 7/16 pins, now I gess the question is, are these pads not really made to work with the puck system ?? Please advise Thank You

Fifth Wheel Rail Sound Dampeners # 16900 were originally designed to fit on industry standard above the bed rails.
The adapter you mentioned, # C16023, has the slots in it to emulate industry standard rails so if the dampeners were compressed enough (with enough weight pushing down on them) then that should allow you to use the regular pins. You definitely want to use the regular pins and nothing smaller because a smaller pin would not carry the same rating.
If you just cannot get the regular pins in then the only option is to not use them.
